Summer Show, 9th August 2014
We were back again at the popular venue of St. Nicholas Church Centre in Belmont Grove, Bedhampton for our annual summer show. The show was on a par with, if not better than, last years show in spite of the difficult growing conditions this year. There was a good variety of vegetable and flower entries, particularly in the dahlia section. Sadly rose entries were down. The photographic section was very well supported as were the cookery, handicraft and children’s classes and of high standard, giving the judges a difficult task in deciding the winners. The show proved popular with members of the local gardening community as we had a very good attendance of visitors and three more members joined the Society.
There were several displays with items for sale, including
Karen’s Blooming Art – hand painted floral designs.

Linda’s Willow – willow sculptured items in variety.

Emsworth Hole in the Wall Pottery Group – a beautiful WW1 display of sandbags and poppies.

Kay Fabrics – Lavender bags and other fabric items of a crafty nature.
We also had a bric-a-brac stall and plants for sale as well as a raffle to raise funds for the Society.
There was a very good spread about the show in the Portsmouth News on Wednesday 13th August with photographs of Ann Buckley, Diana Towler, Liam Hutchings and some of the exhibits.
