Spring 2020 Newsletter
Hello to all our members,
We would firstly like to pay our respects to Geoff Tanton who died late last year. Geoff had been a member of the society for many years and was also the show secretary, he also booked the speakers for our monthly meetings.
As you are all aware by now about coronavirus, you will understand we have had to cancel any future meetings, until we are told by the government we can socialise again. We are hoping fingers crossed that we can have our meeting at the end of September. We will let you know later in the year when the situation changes.
We have also had to cancel our Summer Garden Event unfortunately, which was planned for the 27th June, as the church hall in the Pallant has cancelled all bookings for the foreseeable future.
Up until recently Diana Towler and I have been visiting St. Albans school on a Wednesday to work with the children in their garden areas. Diana also helps to keep the gardens in order at the gazebo in Havant.
Several of our members have also helped the friends of hermitage stream plant fruit trees near the heritage stream. These activities help to show the society cares about our community and the environment.
At last the weather is getting better, and we can if able to get into our gardens, either to work or just sit and enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee, or even something stronger.
Could I please ask those of you who have an e-mail address to e-mail it to me at [email protected] so we can contact our members quickly when things return to normal, thank you.
Finally all of the the committee hope you stay safe and well, as the Vera Lynne song goes “We’ll meet again some sunny day “
Bye for now from Anne Newcombe, and all of the Committee.
