Show
This year we are trialling a new type of show – The Summer Garden Event, to be held in St Faith’s Church Hall, Havant on Saturday 22nd of July. We are hoping to promote gardening in the community, making the event more user-friendly by making the criteria for entries less strict about numbers and items being of the same size, while roughly based on RHS guidelines.
The categories are beans, potatoes, carrots, a green salad, a single rose, a vase of home grown flowers, a pot of jam, a photograph of a garden subject and a plate of 5-8 home grown vegetables for a 5-a-day plate. The numbers that are required are quite small and they only have to be roughly the same size, so I’m sure that many of you will be able to enter for at least one category.
Please try and find something that you can enter, even if it is only a bunch of flowers, to make this venture a success. Tell your friends and family that anyone can enter, as the Event is open to everyone – the more entries we have the better the event will be.
More details and entry forms that can be printed off are on our website, or you can contact Mrs Ballard-Neale at the details below

To appeal to a wider audience there will be work from local school children and many displays from local organisations like the Scouts, Women’s Institute etc. Having mentioned the Scouts, we are sending out an appeal to collect small items for their tombola, please contact Biddy Wylie on (02392) 475226 if you can help.
May Supper
This will be on Wednesday 31st of May at the United Reformed Church Hall at 7.30pm. It will be an American Supper with everybody providing something sweet or savoury, we will be providing tea and coffee and there will also be a quiz. This is a great chance to meet other members and have a bit of fun as well!!
Anyone who was at the last talk will already know this, but we would welcome any other members, particularly any new members who have joined the Society recently.
Please phone Biddy Wylie on (02392) 475226 to book a place and tell her what you would like to bring in the way of food. This is the last session until September, so do come along.
September Meeting
This will be a talk on Alstroemeras by Crosslands Flower Nursery and will be on Wednesday 27th of September at the United Reformed Church Hall, Havant at 7.30pm.
We have been really pleased with the numbers of members who have come to our recent talks, so let us see if we cannot persuade more of you to come in 2017 – 2018!
