Spring 2011 Newsletter

May Supper
This will be our usual Fish & Chip supper and will be held on Wednesday 25th May at the United Reformed Church Hall, Havant, 7 for 7.30pm. Tickets cost £5.50 and are available from Viv Costall on (02392) 453138 or Liam Hutchings (02392) 475140.

Tickets will not be available at the door because of having to order the fish & chips beforehand, so please contact either of the above for tickets. This event is always great fun, so do come along.

Big Green Family Fair
This is being held on Saturday 28th May in Havant Park from 10.30am – 4.30pm. The Society is having a stall, along with over 40 others, so do come along and support us, it’s FREE. We will have stock remaining from the store and possibly some plants for sale.

Car Boot Sale
Again this year, the Society is having a table on Bank Holiday Monday 30th May in the car park of St. Joseph’s Church, West Street, Havant. The sale runs in the morning until 1pm.

We would welcome donations of any spare plants that you can give us, please contact Viv Costall or Liam Hutchings who will be only too pleased to collect them from you. We did really well last year, so let’s see if we can’t do better in 2011!

Summer Show
This will be held on Saturday 6th August at St Nicholas Church Centre, Bedhampton as usual, as this has been a very popular venue for the last couple of years. Quite apart from fruit, veg and flowers there are plenty of other classes to enter for e.g. handicrafts and cookery and these are open to members only.

The floral arrangement is open to non-members as well and the theme is a “girl’s birthday”. Schedules will be available at the May supper, or from Geoff Tanton (02392) 479419. Previous entrants will be sent a copy in the post. Please do try to enter something and help to make this our best show ever!

Distribution Store
As you will know by now, the store is now closed, however Waterlooville & Cowplain Allotments and Gardens Association has kindly offered our members the use of their store at Forest End, Waterlooville if they become a member of their association.

You are welcome to go along on a Saturday or Sunday from 10.00am – 11.30am to see what they have for sale. Please contact their Secretary Mr C. Smith on (02392) 596361 for more details.
