Summer 2006 Newsletter
As with the summer this year, which suddenly arrived, the Summer Show will shortly appear from nowhere. Unless, of course, we all keep it very much in mind!
To remind you, the Show is on Saturday, 29th July and will be held in the St. Nicholas Church Centre, Belmont Grove, Bedhampton. It will be signposted on the day at the junction of Bedhampton Road and the traffic lights on Hulbert Road. There are good parking facilities at the new venue.
Entries are restricted to members, but that includes everybody in the household, so I’m sure that someone has something that they could enter.
We really do need as many entries as possible, so please do try to find something to put in. There are sections for all kinds of garden produce, from flowers to vegetables, as well as cooking, handicrafts and photography. There is a special section for children, so please encourage your children and grandchildren to enter. If nothing else, there is a section for great disasters!
Schedules and entry forms can be obtained from Geoff Tanton (02392) 479419, or from the Store on Saturday afternoons.
The Show will be open to the public at 1.00pm, so even if you have not entered anything please come along and bring your friends.
Even with all the works going on round it, the Store is still open for business. There are now better parking facilities at the end of the lane, so it easier to collect heavy items. Please note, the store will not be open on Show day.
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of May West. She had been an active member and steward for many years.
This was a very good evening and enjoyed by everybody who was there. It was such a pity that so few members attended.
The programme for September onwards has been arranged and details will be on your new membership cards. The Hayling Island Horticultural Society moved their talks from the evening to the afternoon and the attendance increased. If you have any views on our talks being held in the daytime, please let us know.
