Spring 2005 Newsletter
The Committee would like to wish all our members a Happy New Year and good health in 2005 so that you can enjoy your gardens.
Even though all members were reminded of the date of the A.G.M. the attendance was very disappointing, as there were not enough members present to make a quorum. However, it was agreed to go ahead with the A.G.M. as planned.
The Officers for the Society in 2005 are as follows
Peter Collett – Fruit growing in small gardens. Please try to come to what should be a very interesting talk, of late the attendance at our monthly talks has been so low that it has been embarrassing!
Dr. Ann Coates – Porters Garden
Sarah Coles – Gardening for Older People
The store will be open again at the end of this month. Even though the weather does not make you think of gardening at the moment, please think about your future needs and patronise the store, we need your custom!
There are two pairs of tickets for entry to the gardens at Wisley, which will admit one member and a guest with a reduction of 30%. The ticket will allow admittance to all the other Royal Horticultural Society gardens. If you would like to borrow a ticket, please contact Viv Costall at the Store.
Throughout the year Gwen Burroughs has been selling plants at our monthly meetings and she has sent £50 from these sales to the Disaster Fund in our name. Many thanks to Gwen for her splendid effort and to all of you who bought her plants, I’m sure that you will be delighted that your money has gone to such a deserving cause.
This is your society, please get involved by coming to the talks, joining the Committee, sending contributions to the Newsletter, helping with the Show, using the Store or in any other way that you can. Any suggestions or contributions to Biddy Wylie (02392) 475226.
